Assorted Items for January

Happy New Year to you and to yours, and happy hooking!

Here's an assortment of items for your viewing enjoyment, collected from Facebook and other sources:
  • Above is a fascinating video about folks who do Sankalan embroidery, but to me it looks like they're doing rug hooking.  The "hooking" part starts at about the 1 minute mark.  Don't those look like pencil hooks, and isn't there a technique that does decorative designs kinda like this?  I also like their method to transfer a pattern, but it's very labour intensive!
  • The making of braided rugs - an interesting video
  • The non-sewers way of finishing rugs with glue.
  • We've featured videos on flax processing before, but this one looks at a more automated approach - from a 1951 BBC film.
  • And just in case you've always wondered about this....how a sewing machine works!
  • This was just on the OHCG Facebook page - check out these gorgeous rugs this man is making.
