FOLDING INSTRUCTIONS

Here are instructions for folding all the bits we’ve been playing with:

To prepare your pages:

(We’re assuming you’re using old issues of the OHCG Newsletter)

Take out the centre staples.  You’ve now got pages that are approx 16x11.

Folded box:

I don’t have written instructions for these boxes….but the video below is very good.  I used a half page of an ohcg magazine.

Starting with the 16x11 page, tear it in half vertically to make 2 8x11 pages.  Tear those pages in half horizontally to make 4 pages 8x5 1/2.

Cootie Catchers (politically incorrect name, for sure….)

These require a square piece of paper.  Starting with the 16x11 page, fold it in half vertically so that it’s 8x11.  Fold down one top corner to meet the opposite edge, forming a triangle.  Cut away the area below the triangle (save it to make folded stars below).  Open out the page and tear it in half vertically (ie along the original fold from the magazine)

Folded star:

the instructions below are for working with quilting fabric.  If you’re using paper, you can skip steps 1, 2….and use strips of paper that are 1/2-1 inch wide, and 16 inches long.  If you’re using OHCG newsletters, start at the centrefold, and cut strips across the full width of the 2 pages…..or use the bit you cut off when making the cootie catcher above.
